Ivan was the second prince in Toby planet and he was considerate, gentle and filial. Edison was the first prince who would succeed to the throne. But because more and more people supported the second prince, they suggested the king let the second prince, Ivan, have a chance to contend for the throne with the first prince, Edison. And the king accepted the idea gladly. Humble Ivan didn’t want to contend for the throne and he just wanted to have an ordinary life. But everyone knew that Edison was greedy, lustful and rude, and just as the first prince, he would have the power to succeed. Consequently, for the happiness of the Toby planet, Ivan decided to take the challenge to strive for the throne with Edison.

For the competition, the king consulted the queen’s magic mirror that where and what to contest. After thinking carefully, the magic mirror said: ”There is an appropriate place for the contest. In the place, the winner will get full of love and respect. On the contrary, the loser will become very poor and spruned by everyone. It is dangerous but interesting. All consequences are determined by whether they can stick to their morals or not. ”After the king listened to it, he felt satisfied and then appointed two spaceships to send the two princes to the place called “Earth.”

Before Edison and Ivan reached the Earth, they chose the place where the Statue of Liberty was located as their destination. When they landed safely, they used a lighting device, which can make everything magnified or diminished, to shrink the two spaceships into two small baseballs. And then, they started to take action separately.

The king had prepared sufficient money and a dwelling for Edison and Ivan. And they had half a year to compete. After six months, the king would check their accomplishments, including money, position, interpersonal relation and so on. Actually, they didn’t know clearly about these things but they just knew that they had to make a lot of money, have a high position in society and have good connections with people.

Crafty Edison set up a lot of connections quickly and he heard a place where he could turn 50 dollars into 100 dollars and 100 dollars into 1000. That was a gambling house. At first, he indulged in the beauties and wine. He really enjoyed it and had a good time. But when he indulged in gambling and made many bad friends. He was penniless. Worst of all, he borrowed money from a juice dealer and then took the money to gamble again. Finally, he lost all the money and he was dunned by loan collectors. From then on, he had a miserable life.

On the other hand, Gentle Ivan tried hard to find a job. Although he had had a great life as a prince, he got used to the new life on Earth gradually and accumulated fortune step by step. Besides, Ivan knew a pretty woman, Olivia. She was a nice person and she really matched him. They fell in love with each other. Everybody envied this perfect couple very much. If Ivan would be the king, Olivia must be a good wife and helper as a queen.

Ivan usually watched TV news and he found that many people were very poor and needed help. He felt very sorry for them. So, he spent a lot of money buying food for the poor or contributed most of his savings to those in need directly. When Edison heard the news, he became very perverse and he began to hate Ivan. He thought that Ivan might win the contest. As a result, he decided to frame up Ivan.  Cunning Edison disguised himself as a poor man and approached Ivan. Ivan failed to recognize Edison, so he gave a lot of money to Edison. In the end, Edison cheated Ivan of his money. Despite the end date of the contest approaching, Ivan still worked hard conscientiously. Although he had little money, he didn’t regret about what he had done. Ivan’s boss admired Ivan for his attitude and behavior. Furthermore, Ivan was diligent and efficient at his work. Thus, he was promoted as a manager quickly.

Getting a lot of money from Ivan didn’t satisfy Edison. When he heard Ivan was promoted, he went to spread a rumor that Ivan conducted insider trading. But the rumor turned out to be false soon. It made Edison get angrier. He decided to alienate Olivia from Ivan and then he told Olivia that Ivan hid many secrets from her. Olivia believed Ivan firmly at first. But after observing his behavior for several days, she found there were something strange. He sometimes made a phone call in a toilet and he didn’t tell her whom he called and what he talked about when she asked him. Furthermore, he usually went out at night and no one knew what he did and where he went. Because of these strange acts, Olivia suspected that Ivan had another girlfriend. Thus, Olivia fought with Ivan and even wanted to break up with him. But Ivan really loved Olivia very much. After thinking twice, he decided to tell her the truth.

On that night, Ivan drove car with Olivia to a remote suburb. When they arrived, Ivan took a lighting device out from the car boot and put his magical baseball on the grassland. When he turned on the lighting device, the baseball was magnified into a huge spaceship. And then, he told Olivia that he was an alien and that he came from the Toby planet and explained why he came to the Earth. When Olivia knew the truth, she was stunned. After a while, she began worrying about their future. But Ivan’s sincerity touched Olivia, so she decided to accompany him even if she had to follow him to the Toby planet.

Finally, the deadline came. Although Ivan didn’t make a lot of money, he became a good, respected manager and he also found his true love. And then because of his generosity and kindness, he won full of admiration and approval. On the contrary, cunning Edison didn’t know that all of his acts had been observed and broadcasted 24hr by the Toby planet. His abominable acts were spurned by every Toby people and they didn’t allow Edison to come back to Toby. They wanted Edison to take all consequences by himself, including dunned by loan collectors. In the end, Ivan and Olivia became the king and the queen of the Toby planet , and lived a wonderful life. From then on, the Toby planet became even more prosperous and the people lived happily and peacefully.

Hello, freshmen! Welcome to Ming-Lung senior high school. This school is a warm and big family. Each teacher and student is enthusiastic and friendly. After joining us, you will love it soon. And there are some pieces of advice to help you know more about high school life.

First of all, join a club that you like and enjoy it. There are a lot of clubs like: sign language, pop music, rock’n roll, tap dance, and cooking club and so on. In a club, you can make a lot of new friends and learn many things from it. But don’t spend too much time on it or you will have no time on study and then get bad grades.

Second, work hard on your schoolwork. If you study hard, you can not only win scholarship but also can go to an excellent university in the future. Besides, homework and reports, which teachers ask you to do, are also important. As long as you are earnest in them, you can also get more knowledge, which you may not learn from your teachers, from it.

Third, read some extracurricular readings or do some exercise in your free time. In high school life, there might be some pressure on you, especially when you are a senior. So, reading can help you feel relax. Besides, exercising, take swimming for example, can not only ease you up but also make you slim.

Senior high school is different from junior high school. According to all of the above, these pieces of advice would make you know more about high school. Hope that all of you will love this school soon.

Leaders can lead a lot of people because they are unusual. The main point is that each leader has his or her special traits which are different from ordinary people. And I think there are three important characters that leaders should have.

       The first personality is strong perseverance. When people encounter greatly unequal and hard lives, they would need a leader to lead and tell them what they should do.And the leader would be faced with a lot of difficulties and setbacks when leading people to challenge trials and tribulations.Take Dr.Martion Luther King for example, he led black people to fight against the white unyielding government for the unfair racial segregation. Due to his extrodinary strength of will, he promoted the bill of civil rights.

The second is kindness. People would be willing to follow a kind leader. They believe that a kind leader would treat them as his or her children and always think of them. For example, Abraham Lincoln insisted on Abolition to fight for black people’s right. He thought all men should be treated with justice. And he also strived for preventing America from falling apart the American Civil War. His kindness makes him become the most adoring leader in America.

The third is generosity. A great leader has to give up many things, like his family, friends, money, and even his life. Of course, nobody hopes their leader is a selfish person. It is hard for people to contribute all their life to others but a great leader would be willing to do. Such as Gandhi, he found that Indian didn’t have any human rights and then he decided to give up his lawyer position, wife and even his former good life. He devoted his whole life to leading Indian to stand up for their rights and freedom. Finally, he was shot and killed by a Hindu radical. Gandhi spent his all life on India and becomes the greatest leader in Indian mind – Mahatma.

A leader is not easy to be , and is not also anyone can be. According to all of the above, if you want to be a leader, you should have three personalities: perseverance, kindness, and generosity first!

    “Howl’s Moving Castle” is a Japanese animated movie. In the film, the Witch of the Waste visits Sophie and casts a spell which makes a girl become a very old woman on her. Consequently, Sophie decides to leave home to look for the Waste to lift the spell and begins a long journey. In her adventure tour, she meets with Howl by coincidence and then stays in his moving castle. From that time on, they face a lot of challenges to fight against the evil Waste and the cruel government, which launches wars constantly.

    I think “Howl’s Moving Castle” is the best movie I’ve ever seen. Howl is not only handsome but also has strong magical power. Although he refuses his government to attend the war, he uses magic to protect people instead of seeing them die of bomb attack in the war. Besides, I also like the amazing story, like Sophie and Howl’s fantastic encounter, Howl can turn into a big blackbird, the moving castle is controlled by a fire demon, and the front door of the moving castle allows transport to four different destinations. It is really worth taking your time to watch this movie. Don’t miss it, or you will regret.

Dear Eve:

    Long time no see! How are you doing? I heard that the weather there is scorching hot, right? In this summer vacation, I went to the movies, shopping, read novels and played on-line games. Furthermore, I went swimming with my good friends. During this vacation, I became more healthy and happier. I enjoyed it very much.

    Every day I got up early to go swimming and came back at 9 o’ clock. One day, I came back late and my father was angry with it. He thought I didn’t go to the best senior high school and I couldn’t waste my time anymore. Thus, he didn’t allow me to go outside, swimming, even chatting with my friends! Anything I can do is study, study, and study. As a senior, I know there is no time I can lose. But now when I am studying, I feel a lot of pressure on me. I feel so sad. I not only want to get good grades but also be a happy student. I really don’t know what I can do now. Please give me a hand.

   Tainan decided to temporarily suspend an “English teaching service”, which broadcasted messages by garbage trucks, because there are many other policies that need to deliver to residents. As dengue fever and enterovirus spread throughout the city during these years, the garbage trucks’ “English teaching ” was replaced by hygiene policy promotions in Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai.

   TAINAN, Taiwan — An 『English teaching service』 — messages broadcast by garbage trucks in southern Taiwan’s Tainan City for the past few years and once a hot news item covered by foreign media — has been suspended now for more than six months, city officials said yesterday in response to queries from curious residents.

『The city government decided to temporarily suspend the service because it has so many other policies it needs to deliver to residents,』 Environmental Protection Bureau chief Chang Huang-chen said.

As contagious diseases such as dengue fever and enterovirus spread throughout the city last year and this year, the city decided to replace the garbage trucks’ 『English time』 with city policy promotions in both Vietnamese and Thai, for the benefit of foreign spouses who do not understand Chinese.

     I don’t agree that the invention of the Internet has negative effects on our civilization. On the contrary, we get three big advantages from it.

      First, we can get a lot of information from the Internet. There are many different and large information on it. We just need to enter some words in search engine and we can find the information what we want immediately.

      Second, with the Internet, there is no distance between country and country. If our family or friends are in foreign country and seldom have a reunion to get together, we just go on the Internet and use MSN. Then, we can chat with them and even can see them. On top of that, we can make new friends from all over the world by the Internet without going abroad.

      Third, we can make trades on the Internet. If we want to buy some things, we can shop around and compare the prices on the Internet. If there are something that we don’t need to use, we can sell it as well. Consequently, no matter what we want to buy or sell, we can trade with people on the Internet without meeting them face to face.

     The invention of the Internet brings people many benefits, especially convenience. If we make good use of it, it would help us a lot in the future.

When people have ordinary lives, they always take everything other people do for them for granted and seldom appreciate others. But when something unexpected happens, people would realize that they are wrong before! Although I sometimes said “Thank you!”to Father and Mother, I still thought something what my parents did for me was natural. One day, Father fell sick badly and had to be hospitalized. Mother must go to the hospital to take care of him. Consequently, my younger brother and I had to rely on ourselves. During the thirty-seven days, every day I got up, prepared three meals a day, did housework and went to bed by myself. And the most important thing – Take good care of my brother and I. I didn’t know how hard Father and Mother were until they weren’t home. I found Mother has worked so hard doing a lot of housework every day. Also, it is not a very easy thing for Father to support a family. And the most significant thing – Father and Mother play an important role in my life. After the event, I learned that we should always appreciate what others do for us. Now, I say “Thank you.” to my parents and love them more than before.

    Keeping healthy forever is an impossible thing for people. But now it isn’t a dream anymore. There is  the newest invention – 『Hyperman』 is a machine that cure of all disease.
